Angel Ortiz detto Little Angel 2 ( New York, 1967)
Angel Ortiz è un’artista graffitista del basso East Side di New York City ed è ormai celebre con il suo nome d’arte con il quale è solito firmare le sue opere, LA2. All’età di dodici anni divenne amico di Keith Haring ed iniziò così una importante collaborazione, tenuta dal 1981 al 1984, anno in cui sono insieme a Milano. Haring era conquistato dallo stile di Ortiz che lo distingueva dagli altri artisti della sua tipologia e che nelle sue opere rievocava la scrittura ideogrammatica asiatica. Lavorarono insieme combinando i loro stili e creando superfici con linee e graffiti intersecanti. Haring diceva ” Tutto il lavoro fatto da Angel e me è relativo alle superfici e normalmente copre o trasforma gli oggetti dove è applicato”. I due artisti hanno coperto sculture di gesso dipinto, oggetti e intere stanze con graffiti in cui venivano mischiati simboli antichi e contemporanei. Numerose le esposizioni di Little Angel 2 in particolare negli Stati Uniti a New York, a Pittsburgh, a Los Angeles ma anche in Italia, in particolare nel 2005 alla Galleria Leonardo di Bolzano. Nel 2006 alla Triennale di Milano si è svolto l’evento The Keith Haring Show a cura di Julia Gruen e Gianni Mercurio in cui erano esposti un centinaio di dipinti, quaranta disegni, sculture e lavori su carta e opere eseguite a quattro mani da Haring e LA2 tra cui anche il David di Michelangelo.
